Modern Bohemian wedding at The Wood Shed: Jeff & Joely

March 31, 2017

SoCal friends, have you been to an event at The Wood Shed? We’ve shared a few editorials with their killer geometric wall as the backdrop, so it’s super exciting to see Jeff + Joely’s real wedding in this space—which they planned in 6 months with 120 guests (the venue’s max) and a budget of $12K. Uh huh! Between their impeccable bohemian wedding style + Sanford Creative’s creative portraits, you’ll want to take your time with this one…

Sweet story about their design inspiration…
Our first idea and main priority for our color scheme was to incorporate a “camel brown” shade as much as we could, because it was the color of the pants that Jeff always wore while working at the place where our love first began to grow. It had special significance to us, as I used to nickname him “camel pants” before I knew him, when I would talk to my friends about him! From there we decided to pick colors + textures that felt relaxed and went with that—browns, burnt orange, olive green, navy, cream. We wanted our wedding to feel laid back, because we are both pretty low maintenance/non-showy people, so we drew our inspiration from colors that are prominent in California, somewhere we call home and a place that’s known for its laid-back spirit!

Joely is owner of Rooted Florals (behind the dreamy bouquets we featured in this desert elopement) but she enlisted Furrow Floral Co to create all the boho floral arrangements. Her bouquet recipe: quicksand roses, chocolate cosmos, burgundy and white dahlias, and tinus berries.

They loved the venue’s cozy vibe, and that they hand hanging plants all throughout—especially since when J + J were first dating, Jeff would always surprise her with planter boxes he made himself. The whole space represented them perfectly!

Joely says, We loooove that Amanda and Scott of Sanford Creative are genuine people with hearts not just to capture a cool image, but to love on and encourage the couples they shoot for. We are obsessed with the way they photograph. They make you feel so comfortable, and able to shut out the world and act natural with each other even though there’s a camera on you. They did an incredible job with our photos and some shots even look like they are from another era, which we LOVE!

Walking down the aisle was the BEST. We didn’t have a first look, so all day we hadn’t been talking and the excitement and anticipation to see each other was built up. Walking down the aisle I felt the most confident I’ve ever felt in my life, I saw the person I love most, lost in tears, like I was, because he was so damn happy to know that we were committing to doing life together. Having the confidence of knowing you are so loved, that someone is about to say yes to a lifetime with you of humble service and sacrificial love; it’s the best feeling ever.

Cheers!
