Woodland Vintage Wedding: Corinne + Frank

February 20, 2017

The first thing we heard about Corinne + Frank were their day jobs—she’s an actor + kids’ party entertainer and he’s a comedian + improv teacher—which piqued our interest to say the least. No surprise, their woodland wedding was totally unique, its style inspired by Moonrise Kingdom. Michele Suits (who they discovered on Insta) kept their vision in mind when capturing their day:

Michele of Michele Suits Photography says, Their love story is one I will never forget. Corinne was traveling abroad when she decided to stop for a fortune teller on the street. You paid, and the fortune teller’s bird would pick your fortune. Corinne’s fortune was, “You will marry a man named Frank and have 6 kids,”… Not too long after, she meets Frank. No word on the 6 kids yet, but that bird was definitely on to something!

Before they found their venue, Frank just knew he didn’t want a city wedding, and Corinne wanted it to look like a fairytale. Pump House B&B had juuust that magical blend.

Corinne tells it, Frank and I are both very creative people. We share a wild imagination and good sense of humor (and style) and both of us have always marched to the beat of our own drum, so while the wedding didn’t have a theme per say, we wanted it to feel original, playful, and create a little intrigue—getting our guests to come out to what felt to them like the middle of nowhere pushed at their comfort level, but having a mysterious destination is what made it feel like an adventure! The romantic in me loves flea markets, old bookstores, ephemera, and vintage fashion, things that tell a story and have a little mystery to them because of their history, so I definitely wanted to capture that antique, worn feel in the visual style of the wedding. Because it was fall and we were going to be in the middle of the woods we went with natural earth tones and textures that would go along with that rustic setting: greens, browns, antique gold, rust, velvet, patina.

The whole space was decked out with DIY projects and thrift store finds…

I made the cake topper, flower girls’ baskets, the velvet guestbook, the table numbers, and some smaller signage (I bought some frames and painted them an antique gold for the bar menu). I also picked up a couple of thrift store woodland paint-by-number paintings and painted the frames gold, and some antique deer salt and pepper shakers for the table. We had a DIY photo booth with some costumes, masks and a polaroid camera. All of our wine and liquor was hand-picked by Frank and he was in charge of getting it to the venue. Our ceremony was also DIY—I had a friend I’ve known since I was a baby officiate. We collaborated on the script and Frank and I wrote our own vows.

Even though the weather forecast forced them to set up plan B at the venue, it cleared up an hour before and they were able to go with their original outdoor ceremony.

Congratulations guys! See Corinne’s wedding inspo on Pinterest.
