Winter elopement at Emerald Lake Lodge

Being based in SoCal, it’s kinda hard to imagine pulling off wedding portraits surrounded by snow-covered mountains. First, there’s getting to the location: Alicia + Kinsey hiked up to this spot at Emerald Lake Lodge in British Columbia all dressed up for I Do. Then, there’s capturing all these photos while out in the winter elements. Such a feat! Kudos to Guenard Photography for making magic happen for A + K’s elopement photos. See them all + hear their story below!

The bride and groom are passionate adventurers, so the burgundy and deep red color palette coupled with the incredible location suited them perfectly. They’d actually said I Do a year earlier, and although it was just what they wanted, they didn’t get a single photo of the two of them together. Jennie of Guenard Photography was really into the idea of helping a couple re-take their wedding photos, so this shoot became a vow renewal for their first anniversary, complete with adventurous photos and a cozy eve inside the lodge.

Alicia says, The location of the photo shoot was absolutely breathtaking, magical even. From the moment we met, the mountains have been intertwined in our love story and it was impossible not to feel even more in love having Emerald Lake and the mountains as a backdrop. During the shoot, we even hiked up to a frozen waterfall in our wedding clothes which made for the perfect adventure.

Although the concept of the shoot was to emphasize nature and their adventurous side, they kept the fashion, beauty, and décor romantic + elegant.

DIY projects included a memory box full of pieces they collected throughout the day (including snow!), the bridal hairpiece, and the cake toppers. And those wolves? They’re one of Alicia’s fave animals, because they’re native to North America and the mountains, and of course, mate for life.

Jennie says, I’m so glad they have so many amazing photos of the two of them in each other’s arms and so in love, because they look dang good together. Their story is amazing, as is their love, and they’ve had many adventures together, including a completely spur of the moment proposal as they traveled for a few weeks in New Zealand.

Congratulations!
