Happy Monday, friends! Gearing up for the 4th yet? We’re loving all the summery details in Mallory + Graner’s wedding at Rio Vista Vineyard, a property that’s been in his family for generations. With modern lines + a cheery color palette, they gave the romantic venue their own twist. Thanks to Annie McElwain + Jill & Co. for sharing!

The groom is a US Marine Corps pilot, so they included nods to his service throughout. Mallory tells it, Graner and I met studying abroad in Australia, and dated long distance for so many years before moving to California. California was where we made our home together, so it was only fitting that seven years later we start the rest of our lives there, too, in a place that’s so special to Graner and his family… The happiest moment was walking out of the church to so many smiles from the people we love, with paper airplanes (our wedding programs!) flying everywhere! Our band truly made the evening, though the Marines may have stolen the show with a Topgun-style serenade of You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling.

Just a few months after Graner proposed in Big Sur, he left for a 7-month deployment in the Middle East. The hardest part of planning this amazing day was missing him so much, and trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Graner being gone helped us remember what was important, and forget about the traditions that didn’t matter as much. Without my partner in crime, finding an incredible wedding planner was even more of a lifesaver!

Pretty!

One of their fave design elements was leaving the top off their tent, making it a bold geometric backdrop filled with lanterns. Clever!
