It’s been awhile since we’ve posted a proper vendor spotlight around here, hasn’t it? When we caught a glimpse into the studio space of the floral + event design experts at Poppies & Posies, we decided it was high time we shared a bit about their team and what they do. You might recognize their fabulous work from the NY summer soiree recap we posted last month – brilliant, right?
The P&P team is made up of the creative coordinator, Christina, who specializes in large scale installations like chuppahs, arches, hanging florals, and more. Susie is the studio manager and a floral designer; plus there’s an extensive freelance team that helps make all the magic happen. Then there is, of course, Sierra Steifman, Poppies & Posies co-founder and creative director, who chatted with us about her biz below.
Thanks to the guys at The Wedding Artists Collective for the photos.
Poppies & Posies has operated out of their current 2,000 sqft warehouse in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for the last four years. Sierra says, We painted the floors white this year to help brighten the space up and hung pegboards to organize our floral tools and non-floral tools. Organization is always a challenge for us since we have so many items going in and out the door each day. Between our prop shop, The Trove, and our event design work it is truly a revolving door of vases, lanterns, rugs, hurricanes and about a million other little things. Susie keeps us all in order by sectioning off the spaces and trying to keep items together that are similar.
Naturally, the team cozies up the space by keeping a little greenery around.
When you’ve got inventory as pretty as this, why not put it on display?!
Sierra’s advice to those of you in wedding planning mode: I would encourage couples to have an open mind when sitting down to plan their decor and florals. This way your designer can give you suggestions based on the season and highest quality of product. Your designer may also suggest a color palette or style that you may have not other wise considered, but that fits you well. Our clients that are a little flexible always wind up with the prettiest flowers and overall decor at the end of the day.
One of our favorite events we designed this year was with Lyndsey Hamilton Events up at Locusts on Hudson. The couple and the bride’s family were all so sweet and trusting when it came to their big day. They shared their vision with us and then really let us run with it. In the end it was a huge success and very rewarding.
Thanks for letting us take a peek into your space! See the P&P vendor profile for more.
