poolside retro engagement shoot

Before we head out to celebrate Amanda’s wedding (YAY!), we wanted to leave you with a sexy retro couple, a gorgeous Mad Men-esque house in the Hollywood Hills, and beautiful photography from dear to my art photography. Hope y’all have a fabulous weekend!

From dear to my art photography:

Natalie + Corey are two very close friends of mine. They got engaged this past Christmas and no sooner than she said “yes”, she called to tell me the fantastic news so that we could start planning their engagement session! At that moment, I had a vision of them as a sexy retro couple in a mod home with thick rimmed glasses, martinis, and a pool. Natalie claimed that wasn’t “their style” and it took a little bit of arm twisting to get them to agree to bathing suit photos, but she trusted me and let me bring my vision to life; a decision all three of us are so glad about. Our friend Kaycee Tashjian did their hair and Natalie’s make up and I pulled a bunch of clothes I felt fit the look from my closet (including a gorgeous hand-me-down vintage lace dress that Ive envisioned Natalie in for years). Once they got all done up and dressed, Natalie and Corey looked at each other and realized, they own that style! We used my Uncle’s fabulous home in the Hollywood Hills and shot what ended up being our “Mad Men themed” engagement session.

sheer bolero and gathered veil

Courtney + Brian, like us, feel so in love with weddings after having one of their own, (and seeing their wedding video below) that they went into the biz of doing the same for other rad couples. Their wedding was a think outside of the box, 50 person shindig at the Loring Pasta Bar in a funky neighborhood called, get this, Dinkytown. Not making that up. The eclectic vibe of the place was a perfect fit for C + B’s independent creative style. Let’s check it out!

I used an all rose bouquet as a tribute to my grandmother who passed away. Her name was Rose, my mom’s middle name is Rose and my middle name is Rose too.  I love peonies, but it was a no brainer that I’d be carrying Roses down the aisle in memory of her.

Earlier we mentioned that Courtney is now in the wedding biz – well, just so happens she’s featured on our homepage this week. Added bonus: her company is sharing a sweet deal with 100 LC brides. Hop over to check out the Love + Brain Films vendor profile to see more.

Congrats Courtney + Brian!
