Say it ain’t so. You never thought a bohemian country themed wedding could be done? Oh yes. Yes, it can. All it takes is an artist and musician. One’s got to be a little bit country, the other has got to be a bit big city. Emily + Jeremiah are so that couple. They went for the down-home vibe of Jeremiah with a side of whimsy and imagination from Emily. Blue Ball jars for centerpieces = the country. Exotic flowers and feathers = the bohemian. By luck, they found a private working cattle farm, and thus their Virginia wedding was born!
Does Emily’s veil look familiar to anyone? Maybe it was inspired by Kate Moss’ veil…
Great tips + info on snagging a private residence for your venue:
We really lucked out on the venue. We looked at dozens of venues in the area that were very expensive and not so pretty. By word of mouth we found an older gentleman with a cattle farm who had amazing views and a clubhouse style pavilion that he had built for family reunions. He let us use the pavilion on a “donation” basis only. This was the prettiest “private” venue/farm we saw and the cheapest. The downside of this was there was no staff, so we had to set-up and clean entirely by ourselves. We had to rent a tent and dishware, glasses, etc from a local rental place, and hire a caterer to take care of the food and bar. We spent all day Thursday and Friday setting up, and all day Sunday breaking down. It was a lot of work but in a way very special. Lots of friends and family helped out, so it felt good that it was such a community effort.
For favors, guests were allowed to take the vintage apothecary bottles and jars Emily had collected from their tables. As for the gorgeous flowers inside those bottles and jars (Dahlias, Tibet Roses, Ranunculus, Norwegian Peony, Sunflowers, Gerber Daisy, Snowberry, Billie Balls, Chamo), Emily bought them wholesale at the flower market in NYC early on a Wednesday morning, and drove the long 7 hours to Virginia to have a sweet local florist keep and refrigerate them until wedding day on Saturday morning.
