Kate Spade inspired shoot + a Q&A with talented event designers

May 20, 2011

We thought we’d wrap up the week with this fun Kate Spade-y craft shoot and Q&A with the gals of Sitting in a Tree and Enjoy Events Co. They gathered to talk all things creative: fabric swatches, bridal magazines, petit desserts, garlands, color palettes, and California-style. Styled by The Collection Event Studio, tis excellent, modern inspiration for any event and it’s great to get to know some of the exceptionally talented people out there who make pretty weddings possible!

Tell us what California wedding style means to you in three words:

Sitting in a Tree Events: Laid-back, stylish, fun

Enjoy Events Co.: Eclectic, fresh, playful

When it comes to your fellow event planners, why be a friend and not a foe?

Sitting in a Tree Events: We benefit from working together and collaborating. There is plenty of business to go around and we love seeing what our friends create for their brides! It keeps us all pushing things to the next level.

Enjoy Events Co.: It’s all about collaborating, building friendships and being genuine. There is enough “love” to go around in this industry, literally. The best part is knowing a bunch of creative folks to bounce ideas off of and learn from each other. No one ever got anywhere from being the mean girl at school.

What’s the first question you ask a bride when she sits down with you to talk style?

Sitting in a Tree Events: What does her home look like? Seriously, we think that where you live and how you decorate your home really gives us an idea of your overall style and who you are as a person.

Enjoy Events Co.: Neat or on the rocks?…sometimes. Led Zeppelin or Jimmy Hendrix?…other times.

What makes a wedding awesome?

Sitting in a Tree Events: A great dance party!

Enjoy Events Co.: Character, lots and lots of smiles, when the guests don’t want to go home, when there is a bangin’ dance-off at the end of the night and when every one’s feet hurt from getting down with the sweet beats and their belly’s are full from the good eats, we are happy.

You have an hour to host Kate Spade in your town. Where, What, Why?

Sitting in a Tree Events: San Francisco: A walk through the farmers market at the Ferry Building. It’s amazing! The sights, the sounds, the to-die-for food. It’s what San Francisco is all about. San Diego: A bike ride through South Park and North Park. It’s the bohemian heart of the city and the opposite of touristy. Yummy food, small boutiques and craft drinks and beer!

Enjoy Events Co.: We’d take Ms. Kate Spade to a few different spots. It may take a little more than an hour, but what-evs. We reside in the East Bay and love our local go-tos. Our first stop would be Pizzaiolo for a tasty cocktail or two. Then we would mix it up a bit and get our groove on at live at the re-vamped Fox Theater. We would end the night at Flora, an epic art deco designed restaurant, by sipping on some artisan cocktails and treating ourselves to a beyond amazing meal. She wouldn’t want to leave.

Here’s a video of the day, shot by Austin, so you can see exactly what they were up to!

Super cute! Thanks for sharing, all you creative ladies.
