Great Gatsby style wedding: Joanna & Brian

July 26, 2010

It’s impossible not to find something to love about Joanna & Brian’s seriously gorgeous ‘Great Gatsby’-esque wedding. We’re talking creme-toned balsa wood bouquets and custom-made wooden aisle runners. From scalloped ivory lace and pearls to black feather accents and loads of tarnished, vintage silver, this wedding just oozes Jazz Age style that would make anyone want to jump back to the roaring 20s. The cherry on top is that the entire event was captured on film by the wonderful and talented Annie McElwain.

Let’s get to the good stuff.

Any gal that can pull of flats this stylish with a gown that lovely deserves a solid thumbs up in our book. Oh-so-cute, Joanna.

How about these balsa wood floral arrangements by JL Designs? The softness paired with the drama is totally perfect for their Great Gatsby vibe. Not to mention – it’s sustainable! Extra awesome.

Take a sec to absorb the incredibleness that is that aisle runner. Go ahead, we’ll wait. It was designed by invite and event designer Jesi Haack and believe it or not, is made entirely out of reclaimed salvaged wood collected for weeks beforehand by the couple and was assembled by Mr. Haack.

Instead of simply naming the tables, the couple, who have lived in many exciting places, designed enormous seating charts with icons of locations they’ve called home and listed the guests’ names underneath. Guests then had to put their geography skills to good use and find their table by looking for that specific place. I mean, c’mon – that’s amazing. And fun!

We really must point out how elegant a cake this is. The incredible Melody of The Sweet & Saucy shop was actually inspired by a gown spotted at another wedding and had been dying to recreate it for months. Check out those giant white sugar petals – love!

A gorgeous shot to end on. Congrats, you lovebirds! This was one spectacular-looking event.
