Modern yellow and grey wedding: Kristina + Alan

July 13, 2010

We spotted this pretty, unique wedding on Michèle M. Waite’s blog last week and thought you all might enjoy a little something different.

Kristina and Alan created a wedding celebration that didn’t separate the ceremony from the reception. They integrated their marriage ceremony into their celebration because their philosophy is that the marriage IS the celebration. Refreshingly lovely sentiment, no?

Oh, and did you see their outfits? Awesome.

They were married at Alan’s family property in Bellingham where they invited their family and friends to participate throughout the celebration… Alan’s cousin was the mistress of ceremonies, because she’s so vibrant and welcoming, their siblings were the officiants, and Kristina’s brother played the cello. They invited friends to play the guitar and sing. Kristina’s mom gave the dinner blessing and Alan’s parents gave the final toast of the evening.

On top of all of that, they had their guests write advice on cards during the cocktail hour and then later in the celebration used the advice in both their vows and in impromptu toasts when they asked the advice giver to elaborate on stage.

And in a final ceremony, they had everyone gather at the pond to light candles for those who had departed, especially important to Kristina whose father passed away in 2002.

So pretty and thoughtful and unique. Thanks so much for sharing the details of your day with us, Kristina and Alan!
