Remember those super cute MapTotes that were making the rounds a few months ago? We love them. They’re so perfect for things like grocery shopping, beach going, flea marketing and the like. But they’d also make exceptional gift bags for guests of your wedding, filled with local treats of course. Inspired by Erin’s guest post on NYC welcome gifts, we thought we’d take on a few more cities.

Here’s our take on Brooklyn:

1. Marlow & Sons snacks
2. One Girl Cookies
3. Map Tote welcome card
4. Map Tote bag
5. McClures Pickles
6. Brooklyn Brewery beer
7. Fine & Raw bonbons
8. Brooklyn coasters from Fish’s Eddy
9. Tickets to a Brooklyn Cyclones game (season permitting)
10. And of course, Brooklyn gum.

We’re taking suggestions for our next city guest tote post, so let us know what you’d like to see!

Stephanie and Bobak planned their wedding with the intention of minimizing their impact on the environment as much as possible. Sometimes you don’t think about how, shall we say, wasteful a huge party can be. We’re all for cuteness as you know, but cuteness does often come with an environmental price, so it’s lovely to see a wedding where pretty details and eco-mindedness collide.

And the dress. We love her dress.

In keeping with their earth loving theme, they chose green and white as their colors. Their caterer served local, seasonal, organic food. The bouquets were made from local peonies and ranunculus, their invites printed by a green printer, and their wedding rings were made from recycled platinum and gold.

Their centerpieces consisted of glass and fabric from thrift stores, herbs from the farmer’s market and flowers from a local farm. The rest of the reception decor was made by the couple and their family and friends.

Beautiful wedding you two and major props for taking the low impact approach so seriously!

This board was inspired by all the yummy bits of gold we’ve been seeing around the blogs. Why not mix it with vintage florals and greens?

(PS. Metallic is a hard swatch to create, so pretend ours is *actually* golden.)

Helllllooo mamacitas! Apologies for starting a day late this week. Sometimes things come up and, well, we can’t get our posts ready in time. You understand, right?

But our post this morning is DEFINITELY worth a day of waiting.

We’re giving away a wedding package and engagement sesh with Jen Rau.

Yes. Which means you could win free photography from a super talented member of the industry for not only your wedding, but also a bonus engagement shoot.

It’s a pretty good giveaway, no? Jen is suuuuuper nice and so talented and easy to work with. We can vouch for her personally as she shot both Kristina’s pregnant belly and a little family session after Dashiell was born. AND you might remember Michonne & Mike’s super sweet hot rod wedding from last winter? With the amazing DIY fabric flowers?

The contest is open to any couple getting married between September 2010 and April 2011. Jen is located in the LA area so if you plan to be married outside of our fair city, you will be responsible for her travel expenses. (Same goes for the engagement shoot). We’re looking for the most creativest, most original, most craftiest wedding. And of course it doesn’t have to be big budget. The more you can do with less, the better! And we want you to LOVE your wedding and be super inspired to make it personal and you.

Here’s how you enter:

Send an email to “info {at} 100layercake {dot} com” with the subject line “Jen Rau Giveaway” that includes the following information:

Names
Wedding date & location
What makes you an extra creative, crafty bride?
Why you NEED Jen to shoot your wedding?
and please send a photo of the two of you

The contest starts today and goes through the end of next week. We’ll remind you as we get closer to the deadline. And keep in mind that in entering the contest you are agreeing that should you win, you’re up for paying travel expenses to your wedding. That’s all the fine print. Now send us your entries!

Good luck everyone and we can’t wait for Jen to shoot your wedding!
