This morn we have a super sweet Aussie wedding held at the groom’s family home in Jaspers Brush, NSW (south of Sydney). The property was once a strawberry farm run by Joost’s parents and the couple carried the theme through their wedding.

They were married under a cedar tree at the back of the property, where Joost and his friends used to camp out as kids.

Kirsty’s amazing headpiece was made by her friend Michelle Collison of Shady Fig. She incorporated strawberries and strawberry leaves in a nod to the history of their venue.

They were married by Kirsty’s mum (we have to use the proper Aussie lingo) and their two children Oscar and Ruby were integral parts of the celebration.

The food was catered by Joost’s old friend and mentor who drove five hours with two other chefs to be there. The cake was made by Joost’s mum and Kirsty’s dad made the beer. They’re into food these families. Kirsty and Joost met when she opened a cafe and asked if Joost’s bakery could supply the bread. Cute, right?

For favors, Joost baked fig and walnut bread and Kirsty screen printed cute wrapping bags.

We’re so excited to be guest judging the Minted Design Challenge along with Vane of Brooklyn Bride. With so many amazing designs and over 500 entries it’s been hard to narrow down our favorites to our top 6. But, as you know there needs to be a winner. This is where your help comes into play. We’d love to know who your favorite is to help us make our top choice!

We’ve numbered the invites below and if you’d be so kind, please leave a comment with the invites that you think are the cutest or most creative.

I knew immediately that I wanted my bridesmaids to be able to choose the dress of their liking, but I really struggled on choosing a color. When DLB and I first started planning our wedding, I was really torn on what color I wanted my bridesmaids to wear. I went back and forth between three colors for months. First I wanted eggplant, then eggplant became yellow and yellow became red and red became eggplant again… sigh. I was so confused.

One day I sat down with DLB and we started analyzing our ideas. I’ve never been much of one to wear a lot of color. Both of us are always drawn to neutral, earthy colors, so in the end I decided to have my bridesmaids wear ivory/cream dresses.

I know you’ll either love this idea or you’ll think what some of my friends and family did: that I won’t stand out. Well, maybe not. But in the end I think everyone will know who the bride is and it’s what I really want.

I’m also letting my bridesmaids pick the dress of their choosing with only a few requirements. here are a few dresses I’ve spotted that would make wonderful bridesmaids dresses, or even the perfect dress for a casual wedding!

And just because I love a good sneak peek…here’s the first look at what I’ll be wearing. It’s a “once worn” J. Crew gown from a few years ago that I purchased from this pretty girl wearing the dress shown here. I couldn’t have been more happy with the transaction and highly recommend buying used if you’re up for it!

Hi there! This is Alyson with Unruly Things, guest blogging while Kristina enjoys the bliss of being a new mom. I’m planning my upcoming summer wedding and I’m thrilled to be here to share some of my ideas and progress with you.

My fiance {I’ll further refer to him as DLB} and I knew right off the bat that we didn’t want a big, formal wedding. While there are certain traditions that I love and plan to keep, we are definitely more focused on planning an event where our families and really be comfortable and get to know each other. A formal wedding just isn’t our thing, so our hearts literally danced when we found our venue – a gorgeous space in the Columbia River Gorge, set in the middle of a beautiful old growth forest which surrounds a lake, complete with canoes!

When we were first looking around for wedding inspiration, naturally there were lots of things that popped out as beautiful or a good option for us. If you follow Unruly Things, you probably know that I’m way into natural medical/science related things including specimen prints, laboratory glassware and terrariums. So it was no question that we ultimately decided to use this as a starting point for our decor.

So playing on the specimen theme, we’re planning to have a few different “specimens” of food with buffets for appetizers, the main meal and dessert, using lab glass for our center pieces, and incorporating little natural & personal elements into anything we can.
