Last week Jillian met up with Carolina Della Valle of Modern Press at her sweet studio in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Her space and creativity alone are enough to persuade anyone to hire her to design their invites.
Carolina has a background in Architecture and Interior Design and once you know that you can see how her education has influenced her work. She has a decidedly clean, modern style, she loves to work with unique materials, and spends time conceptualizing each piece as if it were a little sculpture.
And, as if that weren’t enough, she does every single thing by hand. Letterpress printing, embossing, diecutting, foil stamping, plus laser engraving and cutting on a bunch of interesting materials.
She’s also the awesome kind of pack rat that keeps all sorts of interesting scraps from previous projects with the hope that she might be able to use them again.
Her approach is so thoroughly inspiring – she just likes to make things, yay! – that we can see how inspired a client would feel as they work with her on a project.
In fact, Jillian was so inspired that they discussed hosting a fun crafternoon at Carolina’s shop in the near future. Which sounds like a really perfect way to spend the day, no?
Thanks for sharing your beautiful space with everyone, Carolina!

Wow, jillian, looks amazing!!
Thank you for visiting with me and showing the world all the little treasures that make my studio my own special little place.
My girls will be thrilled to see their little characters online too.
btw, beneath the orange scribble is my youngest daughter, Isa (2) and the pink dress/red lips is Evia (4)…and of course Ina, her all-time fave friend by her side!
Crafternoon, here we come! can’t wait!

amazing and totally inspiring… this is my dream!
I had the pleasure of visiting my cousin, Carolina’s, studio for the very first time just recently. From the moment you enter the door, you can’t help but be drawn in by the creativity that surrounds you. I was awe-struck by all her beautiful and UNIQUE work and loved all the little “elements” that went into her creations, which is so beautifully captured in the photos above. Thank you for featuring her work and I urge everyone to go down to her studio and see for yourself!
