Bryn hand drew each invite to her birthday party. So cute! Here’s what she says:

“I made for my own birthday party in February ’08. I organized a dinner party for 24 friends and was determined to send out handwritten invitations to each of them. I decided to use classic white paper dinner napkins and folded them like a card. On the front, I sketched a picture of the restaurant along with the date — almost in the style you might write on a napkin as a reminder for someone. Inside, the actual invitation words with details and information. It took some time to draw them for each invite, but since it was the same exact thing, I was able to churn them out pretty quickly.

It was a huge hit! People seemed delighted to receive these invites. Writing on napkins seems like a great DIY option that could be used in so many different ways!”

Bryn’s also a talented calligrapher, (which is why her invites are so cute), and you can see her work on her site paperfinger.

  6. I second Monica’s comment, I would have loved to be invited to this party. To receive this invitation in the mail must have been a mini party in and of itself. Reminiscent of everything good about getting a birthday party invitation and about real mail in general. Just beautiful!

  11. Full disclosure- I was lucky enough to be invited to this party and this was, hands-down, the best invitation I’ve ever received. Opening the brown envelope to find a napkin was so surprising- so witty- and then the pen ink drawings were just wonderful. Bryn’s sketch of the outside of the restaurant, with the red balloons, looked EXACTLY the way the restaurant looked when I walked up the night of the party.

So pleaesd to be able to vote for this…
